Revival

Revival. The state of being renewed, restored, or born again. All things eventually need revival; from a broken-down car, to the soul of a person. My work dives deep into what it means to find revival in your life. Pulling from my own experiences and those of my dancers, REVIVAL explores the most profound memories in our lives. Whether it happened eight years ago or last night, I looked into the heart of our most raw, real, and deepest confessions: moments that had or continue to have such a profound impact on our life. While these blood memories are a part of us, they don't define the whole story. We are more than our hardships, adversities, and failures. Starting with reflection, REVIVAL looks into what it means to revisit that moment in time, having gone through the storm. It then transitions over to the very moment of suffering, vulnerability, and loneliness that one may feel in the trials of life. But darkness can only be strong as long as you allow it to prevail. By keeping the faith, we can "come to life" and feel the weight of suffering lifted off our shoulders, finally having the peace and relief that was so longed for. Through the lens of reflection, the piece once again looks back at all that has happened; yet, instead of looking back with regret, sorrow, or hatred, one looks back with hope and a pearl of newfound wisdom that wasn't discovered until the trials of the storm ceased. In all that you do, I invite you to find revival in your own lives. Let it be something that frees you from whatever bondage holds you back from living. When all is said and done, make it all "come to life".
